This trial is taking place in International Crimes Tribunal no 1 and is known as case no 5/2025
It involves the prosecution of the former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her former and defence adviser, Tarique Siddiqui, five former heads of the military intelligence agency, DGFI and six former directors of DGFI’s Counter Terrorism Intelligence Branch (CTIB). They are accused of involvement in the unlawful detention, enforced disappearance and torture of people in DGFI’s detention facilities, including the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC).

The Charges
On 18 December 2025, the Tribunal passed an order framing charges.
It sets out five seperate charges involving different time periods.

Charge 1 involves conduct between 2 February 2017 to 4 March 2020, and refers to the disappearance of 12 named people who were detained at the DGFI’s Joint Interrogation Centre.
Charge 2 involves conduct between 22 October 2015 to 1 February 2017, and refers to the disappearance of 16 named people who were detained at DGFI detention facilities, including the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC)
Charge 3 involves conduct between 5 March 2020 to 7 July 2021, and refers to the disappearance of 4 named people who were detained at DGFI detention facilities, including the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC)
Charge 4 involves conduct between 28 July 2021 to 2 November 2022, and refers to the disappearance of 4 named people who were detained at DGFI detention facilities, including the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC)
Charge 5 involves conduct between 3 November 2022 to 5 August 2024, and refers to the disappearance of 2 named people who were detained at DGFI’s Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC)
