Trial relating to police killings in Rampura on 19 July 2024

This trial is taking place in court no 1 of the the International Crimes Tribunal and is case no 3/2025 of that court. The Tribunal judges are:

The trial involves the prosecution of 5 police officers, all accused of the offence of crimes against humanity, involving the deaths of two people and serious injuries of another two, in the Rampura area of Dhaka, on 19 July 2024.

There are five police officers accused in this case. Four of them are fugitives (resulting in their trial taking place in absentia, with court appointed lawyers) and one of them is in the dock.

THE CRIMINAL CHARGES

Each of the defendants are accused of three separate charges of the offence of Crimes Against Humanity.

These were set out in a charge framing order that was given by the Tribunal on 18 Sept 2025.
